BE CAREFUL, EVEN IN THE PLANE!

BE CAREFUL, EVEN IN THE PLANE!  If you travel by air a lot, beware of over friendly chatty seat neighbours. The older lady comes and sits next to me inside the plane. She asked me to help her put her bag in the overhead luggage compartment. But a gentleman sitting across quickly came through. (I am not very tall and the overhead luggage compartment is something I try to avoid at all costs.  Immediately she sits down she strikes up a conversation.  She was very pleasant and well spoken.  So we chatted all through the flight to Dubai.  Suddenly, when the pilot announced that we were now proceeding to begin our descent into DXB, my good friend 'developed' stomach pains.  Me with my good heart, I pressed the stewards button, and the stewardess came to find out what the problem was.  I told her my seat mate was not feeling well.  And this lady, she suddenly began to address me as 'my daughter'.  The stewardess told me that there was nothing they c...

FIRST INAUGURAL ADDRESS BY PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU 29 MAY 2023   THE NIGERIAN IDEAL   My Fellow Citizens, I stand before you honoured to assume the sacred mandate you have given me. My love for this nation is abiding. My confidence in its people, unwavering. And my faith in God Almighty, absolute. I know that His hand shall provide the needed moral strength and clarity of purpose in those instances when we seem to have reached the limits of our human capacity. This day is bold and majestic yet bright and full of spirit, as is our precious nation. As a nation, we have long ago decided to march beyond the dimness of night into the open day of renewed national hope. The question we now ask ourselves is whether to remain faithful to the work inherent in building a better society or retreat into the shadows of our unmet potential.  For me, there is but one answer. We are too great a nation and too grounded as a people to rob ourselves of our finest destiny. This nation’s j...

Dog Meat Delicacy: You Are Practicing Broad Day Light Witchcraft – Okon Slams Idimogu Renowned actor and comedian, Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly known as Okon Lagos, has reacted to the call out of Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci over her dog meat delicacy. The president of the Dog Lovers Association, Jackie Idimogu had publicly called out Baci for eating dog meat after she supported her during her Cook-a-thon competition. Reacting to Idimogu’s vituperations, Okon stated that she was trying to diminish Baci’s success by stirring Western hatred. He pointed out that consuming dog meat is common in Akwa Ibom, which happens to be Hilda’s state of origin. The thespian argued that if preparing dog meat is considered a crime, the same argument could be extended to other animals that are kept as pets by different individuals. He wrote: “Who’s this one sef? Ok Madam Cloutina, before you began inciting western hate on Hilda, you should have first of all known that there is no proof that the meat on that t...
